Remote ID In-Flight Failure

A Standard Remote ID broadcast stops working halfway through an otherwise normal flight. What should the remote pilot do?

  • A.Land as soon as practicable and correct the problem before flying again
  • B.Climb promptly to a higher altitude, where the broadcast signal is more likely to be received again
  • C.Ignore the failure and finish the planned flight, because an in-flight failure never matters
Correct answer

A. Land as soon as practicable and correct the problem before flying again

Why

If Remote ID fails during flight, the aircraft should be landed as soon as practicable, and the failure corrected before the next flight. Climbing does not fix a failed broadcast, and the failure cannot simply be ignored.
