Registration Marking

Where must the FAA registration number be placed on a small unmanned aircraft?

  • A.Only on the ground control station case that is carried during every operation
  • B.Only inside the battery compartment, if it can be shown to officials on request
  • C.On an external surface of the aircraft, where it is legible
Correct answer

C. On an external surface of the aircraft, where it is legible

Why

The unique registration number must be marked on an exterior surface so it can be read without disassembly. Marking it only inside a compartment or on ground equipment does not satisfy the exterior-marking requirement.
