Battery Inspection Before Charging

What inspection should precede charging a battery that was used earlier in the day?

  • A.Charge immediately while the pack is still hot to save time
  • B.Charge a swollen pack slowly to restore it
  • C.Check for swelling, damage, unusual heat, or odor, and do not charge a pack showing those signs
Correct answer

C. Check for swelling, damage, unusual heat, or odor, and do not charge a pack showing those signs

Why

Charging stresses a battery, and charging a damaged or overheated pack increases fire risk. A brief inspection, and letting a hot pack cool as directed, should come before connecting the charger.
